COVID Protection System (COPS) for Gated Community/ Complexes

In spite of the trinity of practice of Social Distancing, Personal Protective Equipment & Sanitization, COVID-19 has surpassed beyond expectations. Such an elusive and invisible enemy requires innovative and tactful solutions to decimate it.

Upon entering any Gated Community/Complex, there is a high risk of infecting the entire community by an infected visitor. The Security Guards, entrusted with the responsibilities of Temperature Reading and Sanitizer Dispensing, are the most vulnerable individuals, since they come to the closest proximity of any visiting outsiders. Even, the foot-pedalled Sanitizer Dispenser is very risky as it exposes a weak link i.e. spread of contamination through shoes and therefore to the entire community. There is also a high risk of contamination and spread in a Gated Community through visiting Cars.

CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur, gladly informs the unveiling of the COVID Protection System (COPS) for Gated Community. The COPS is an artificial intelligence augmented protective shield for any organisation, which harnesses Imaging, Thermal Scanning, Upgraded Nozzle Design, Sensor Based Automation and Disinfectant fogger to battle the Novel Coronavirus transmission. The COPS, received a wide coverage in digital, print, electronic and social media news platforms, consists of four-pronged mechanisms to enforce and handle Entry Management Protocols:
  1. Solar based IntelliMAST- Whenever a person enters a Gate the Solar Based Intelligent Mask Automated Dispensing Unit cum Thermal Scanner (IntelliMAST) detects whether a person is wearing mask and alerts the supervising authority accordingly. The IntelliMAST also incorporates ID Card based Recognition system, and in the case of member of the organisation/Gated Community not wearing a mask, the IntelliMAST automatically dispenses a set of masks and relevant price is deducted through salary/e-payment-system of the concerned depending upon the organisational set-up. This system uses a Solar/Electric Power with sufficient backup to remain constantly active. The in-built Thermal Scanner automatically scans forehead, detects any anomaly in body temperature and alerts the supervising staff about the abnormality in body temperature. 2. Touchless Faucet (TouF)- The Touchless Faucet has been developed to cater the frequent need of washing hands with soap  and water. The Faucet can be very easily mounted by replacing existing tap of any Wash-Basin. This System dispenses Water 30 seconds after dispensing Soap in a Touch-free Mechanism. The technology has a power supply requirement of only 10 Watts. (https://www.ndtv.com/jobs/csir-cmeri-durgapur-unveils-covid-protection-system-for-workplace-2265406)

  3. 360 degree Car Flusher- The 360 degree Car Flusher is a comprehensive Car External Body Sanitizing system which uses a disinfectant Water spray. This product uses a Water Channel Frame with customised specialised Nozzles for optimum 360 degree coverage and even spread of the diffused water. It requires 1 Hp power to run the pump. This system may be deployed at entrance of Gated Communities. (https://pib.gov.in/FeaturesDeatils.aspx?NoteId=150662&ModuleId%20=%202)

  4. Dry Fogging Shoe Disinfector (DFSD): The Dry Fogging Shoe Disinfector (DFSD) is a comprehensive footwear Disinfector which uses a 170 Khz frequency Ultrasonic Vibrator to generate 0.1 micron or lesser sized disinfectants for a wide span of coverage. The 0.1 micron size of the particles also ensures that the water droplets does not damage shoe materials such as leather/ rexin etc. and it also ensures that the droplet size and numbers are enough to cluster around Coronavirus.

In the present scenario of COVID-19, CSIR-CMERI intends to reach out to MSMEs, Start-Ups and Local Entrepreneurs to suggest improvisation in the developed technologies/products so that Self-Reliant India can be envisioned.
